# E\*Trade 2.0 (Beta)

{% hint style="info" %}
Do NOT connect to this brokerage unless you are instructed by the StockHero team to do so. You may still connect to the standard **E\*Trade** brokerage.
{% endhint %}

In StockHero, there are two E\*TRADE API connectors available.

The first is **E\*Trade**, which is the standard E*TRADE connector and the most widely used option. The second is* **E***\****Trade 2.0 (beta)**. As the “beta” designation indicates, this connector is still under development and users who choose to connect through E\*Trade 2.0 should be prepared for potential issues, limitations, or unexpected behavior.

Connecting to E\*Trade 2.0 (beta) requires several additional steps and is not as straightforward as connecting through the standard E\*Trade connector. However, the purpose of introducing the 2.0 connector is to establish a more stable and reliable connection with E\*Trade over the long term.

If you have been instructed to use **E\*Trade 2.0 (beta)**, please follow the steps below carefully to complete the connection.

1. Log in to your E\*Trade brokerage account
2. Navigate to this URL: <https://us.etrade.com/etx/ris/apikey>
3. In your Sandbox environment, you will be able to access the Consumer Key and Secret. Keep this page open.
4. In another tab or window, log in to your StockHero account and navigate to the Settings > Brokerage API page.
5. Select **E\*Trade 2.0 (beta)** and scroll down to view Consumer Key and Secret textfields.
6. Copy the two keys from step 3 to the respective textfields. Click the Authorization button.
7. You will be directed to E\*Trade and will have to log in to start the authorization process.
8. Accept the Agreement as shown in your E\*Trade account.
9. The next page will display the Verification Code. Copy this code into the same StockHero page as described in step 6.
10. Connection should be established.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.stockhero.ai/connecting-brokerage/e-trade-2.0-beta.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
